QUESTION ABOUT MIXING PI-OSC AND PRECISION STOP
<< QUESTION >>
Hi Roger
It donned on me you might be able to point me in the right direction. I trade 3 systems that have good results, but I'm looking to improve in 2 areas. The first is timing entries. I am good at identifying direction, but not consistent with timing. The second area is exit timing. I was thinking PI-Osc would probably help with the first. Is the Precision Stop the best option for exit timing? Or are any of your other indicators better for my 2 areas of interest?
Also, it looks like Precision Stops only works on Ninja 7 so I'd need that (pls correct me if I'm wrong).
Thanks again,
<< ANSWER >>
The two indicators are very different as Precision Stop will flip when an establish trend reverses and is a trend following method compared to Pi-Osc which is a contra trend method. Precision Stop buys the first sign of an up trend in a downtrend turning up, but Pi-Osc buys extreme deflection points.
They will give contradicting signals, but you could use Precision Stop as a trend filter and take the PI-Osc signals that occur within that long term trend by variation of the time frames and settings of PS.
Precision Stop cannot be used in its current form only as an exit stop as its a full blown strategy.
Also, you are not alone in your areas that you wish to improve, the greatest traders have the same problems. The difference in end profit can be improved by using correct money management , stop distances and pyramid entries / exits.
It has not been possible to replicate the code for Precision Stop in NinjaTrader8 thus far so you are correct it is currently available for NinjaTrader7 only, the same is true for Percent Asymmetric as it uses the same order generation procedures with stop orders.

Roger
